Constructed in 1973 and situated at a distance of thirteen kilometers southwest of the capital city of Latvia, the Riga International Airport is the biggest airport in the Baltic States. The airport is coded as RIX and EVRA by the International Air Transport Association and the International Civil Aviation Organization respectively. Its latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates are specified as 56°55'25?N and 23°58'15?E. Among the major airlines operating at Riga, Aer Lingus, Air Baltic, easyJet, Ryanair, Lufthansa and Scandinavian Airlines System are the chief ones.
