Fly to Riga

Constructed in 1973 and situated at a distance of thirteen kilometers southwest of the capital city of Latvia, the Riga International Airport is the biggest airport in the Baltic States. The airport is coded as RIX and EVRA by the International Air Transport Association and the International Civil Aviation Organization respectively. Its latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates are specified as 56°55'25?N and 23°58'15?E. With a direct connection to around thirty countries amounting to more than sixty destinations, the Riga International Airport in 2007 alone supported a passenger count of more than three million which was an increment of nearly 27% than the count registered the previous year. The airport has 2550 meters long runway with an asphalt surface and three terminal denoted as A, B and C. Out of them A and C handles the traffic for non Schengen countries while terminal B is to preside over the Schengen departures. However, currently plans are in discussion for a new terminal which would be able to support ten million passengers annually apart from facilities of hotels, control towers, runways, parking lots, etc. The airport is very well connected with the city by means of bus, shuttles and taxis. Moreover, there is also a facility of a well maintained motorway and a parking area, which can provide parking facilities to more than 1500 cars. Among the major airlines operating at Riga, Aer Lingus, Air Baltic, easyJet, Ryanair, Lufthansa and Scandinavian Airlines System are the chief ones. They provide travelling facilities to all over Europe as well as parts of Asia and America under various schemes of air travel. Their offer of travel deals from extremely luxurious to even cheap air flights. In fact, taking the instance of travelling via Ryanair, a trip to London for someone availing cheap flights can cost only around 75 LVL.
