(Moscow) Sheremetyevo International Airport – is located 29km or 18 miles northwest of Moscow, and is one of the city’s three main airports. It has two terminals and the construction of its third terminal is being planned. The new terminal is now open next to Terminal 1 and will accommodate passengers previously served by the old terminal. Free shuttle and other public transport are available for travel from terminal one to terminal two. The airport can be reached through regular express buses that are available 24 hours a day from terminal 1 and 2 to Moscow, coaches also runs between the airport and Moscow Central Air terminal. Taxis are available 24 hours and it is advisable to get in line and join the queue for a fixed-rate taxi. In 2008 a fast rail transit connecting the airport to Moscow is expected to be completed. The airport facilities include ATMs that are available in terminal two, bars and restaurants that are present in both terminals. Shops including Duty-Free are also available in both terminals. Sheremetyevo Airport also has a hairdresser, pharmacy, medical office and baby care facilities which are helpful for those travelling with their little ones, and there are nine meeting rooms available for use to all business travelers. Facilities for disabled persons like wheel chair are also available but they should inform the airline beforehand that they need the said special service. There are also hotels available near the airport like The Novotel Moscow Sheremetyevo and the Sheremetyevo-2 Hotel. There are also some travel agencies around the airport just incase you do not have your flights tickets yet. Many of them are having an offer called the “last minute travel” deals. Flight prices are normally lowered down in a certain percentage or amount. Moscow has numerous tourist spots and to name a few, you can see the Red Square which was added in UNESCO’s list of world heritage sites in 1991. They also have GUM department store, The Kremlin, Lenin’s Tomb, and the Moscow International Concert Hall.
