Henri Coanda International Airport (OTP) is the busiest airport in Romania, and one of the two airports serving the city of Bucharest. Located north of the Bucharest City in the town of Otopeni this airport is also termed as Otopeni Airport. It was recently renamed in the honor of Romanian flight professor Henri Coanda. Henri Coanda International airport handles more than 4 million passengers in one year and is expected to handle more that 6 million passengers in coming years. The airport has one single terminal which is separated into three halls for entry and departures of passengers. The terminal was renovated in 1997 to handle more passengers as the old terminal was unable to handle the growing number of passengers arriving in due to cheap airfare rates offered by low cost airlines flying in this airport. A second terminal is also in progress to accommodate the increasing number of passengers which is expected to complete within two years. Henri Coanda International Airport is the main entry point for Eastern Europe as a large number of air flights connect this airport to other major European and western destinations. It is the main hub for Romanian national airline TAROM. This airport also gets flights from Click air, Easy jet, and other popular airlines. The airport is located around 18km from the city center and various public buses and private cars are available for transportation between the city and the airport.
