The Kaunas International Airport, right after the Vilnius International Airport is the busiest airport for civilian purposes in the country of Lithuania and the fourth such airport in the Baltic States as a whole. Often called as Kauno tarptautinis Oro Uostas in Lithuanian language, the airport is coded as KUN and EYKA by the International Air Transport Association and the International Civil Aviation Organization respectively. The precise geographic location of the airport are given by its latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates which are specified as 54°57'50?N and 24°05'05?E. With a runway of asphalt surface that stretches for 3150 meters, the Kaunas airport is built with the main purpose of serving to the overseas passengers. In fact, only the last year has witnessed a growth of around 60% from the passenger count of the previous year. Located at a distance of around nine miles from the heart of the city in the northeastern direction, the airport is quite well connected with the city of Kaunas as well as from that of Vilnius. There are regular bus routes from both these places and an additional shuttle service from Kaunas to the airport at affordable rates of fares. There are three main airline services that are functional at the Kaunas International Airport. While the Ryanair service is available from both Terminal A and B, the former also facilitates the service of FlyLAL, a charter service. Since the low cost airline Ryanair is the main service at this airport, air tickets are available at quite minimal prices. For instance, the charge of the cheapest flight for a one way trip to London from Kaunas can go as low as 160 LTL (approx.) with Ryanair considering the discount airfares and excluding the taxes.
